as Chief Executive Officer, Alfred Karcher, Inc.


Joe Jones - Karcher USA CEODULUTH, Georgia, March 10, 2003 – Alfred Kärcher GmbH of Winnenden, Germany, today announced that Joseph L. Jones had been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the company’s U.S. based subsidiary, Alfred Kärcher, Inc. Jones, 51, most recently was the President and General Manager of the Productivity Solutions Division of Ingersoll-Rand Company, Woodcliff Lake, NJ. Prior to that, he was President of the Stanley Tools Division of The Stanley Works, New Britain, CT, where he was employed for twenty-three years. He holds an undergraduate degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from Pennsylvania State University, and he served as an officer in the U.S. Army.

Kärcher, the leading global manufacturer of power cleaning equipment, entered the U.S. market in 1982 and has continued to pioneer leading-edge indoor and outdoor cleaning products. It maintains manufacturing operations in Rancho Cucamonga, CA from which it distributes throughout North America. Jones’ experience in the retail sector will enable him to effectively lead a strong expansion of the U.S. business base in both existing and new product categories.

Alfred Karcher, Inc. has flourished under the helm of Jones’ leadership. In 2004, Kärcher received a Best Buy award from Consumers Digest magazine for the company’s K3 series electric pressure washers. In 2005 Kärcher was also recognized by Consumer Reports magazine for its outstanding product line, including a top-rated gasoline pressure washer and a K2 series electric pressure washer that was awarded one of the magazine’s coveted “Quick Picks.”

In 2004 Kärcher contacted the National Parks Service to explore cleaning Mount Rushmore in South Dakota. The Parks Service approved the request in 2005 and the massive cleaning project was conducted in July 2005. Kärcher donated all of the cleaning services as part of a goodwill and cultural sponsoring project. To date more than 1,000 articles and broadcasts have covered the event, including CNN, Fox News, NPR, ABC News and USA Today.

In 2005 Kärcher’s U.S. and Canadian consumer businesses were consolidated to take advantage of significant investments in enterprise-wide IT solutions and other shared resources. Jones now leads the combined business from Alfred Karcher, Inc.’s offices near Atlanta, GA.
