Training and motivating the Kärcher workforce is an important part of our environment management system
Campaign: "Environment-friendly on your way to work" (at Kärcher locations in Germany):
- Kärcher pays 50% of the travelling cost to those employees who use public transport for getting to work.
- Battery-charging station for electric cars owned by Kärcher employees.
- The Kärcher bicycle card: If you ride to work by bike, you take part
.. in a year-end draw. The first prize is cash equivalent to the cost of a bicycle.
The Kärcher environment information service:
This reports on current environment developments at work and in the home and gives advice on how to live in an environment-conscious way. Saving energy, recycling paper, recycling CDs, handling hazardous substances these are but a few examples.
In-house environmental training courses:
They give all employees an opportunity to inform themselves, during working hours, about environmental impact at their workplaces. The subjects covered include emissions/climate protecting measures, waste, water/waste water, environmental protection in connection with the product.
Kärcher wins environmental prize:
For its endeavours on informing and motivating, Kärcher was awarded the second prize in a 1998 competition entitled “Who is best at motivating their workforce for in-house environmental protection”. This had been organised by the Ministry of the Environment of the state of Baden-Württemberg and the regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
